Active membership provides many great benefits including:
- Access to the Great Saltpetre Cave Preserve
- Voting privileges (NSS Membership also required)
- COG Squeaks (Monthly Newsletter)
- Invitation to members only events
- Access to the Grotto Library
- Ability to borrow Grotto Equipment
The Grotto accepts new members on a rolling basis with initial membership requiring the following:
- Attend a minimum of 1 monthly meeting
- Attend a caving event with a Grotto member
- Review the Great Saltpetre Preserve Management Plan
- Submit the COG Application (Online or Print) and Rockcastle Karst Conservancy Waiver to membership@centralohiogrotto.com
Membership approval will be reviewed by the executive committee upon completion of the above requirements.
Yearly dues are collected to help cover operating costs, memberships to other caving organizations, community outreach, events, and updating our book, gear, survey, and vertical libraries. Membership resets on January 1 of each year with members dropped from the active roster if dues are not paid by April 1.
