Active membership provides many great benefits including:
- Access to the Great Saltpetre Cave Preserve
- Voting privileges (NSS Membership also required)
- COG Squeaks (Monthly Newsletter)
- Invitation to members only events
- Access to the Grotto Library
- Ability to borrow Grotto Equipment
Yearly dues are collected to help cover the costs of Streaming, Meeting Room, Website, Grotto Events, and to support other caving organizations.

The Grotto accepts new members on a rolling basis with initial membership requiring the following:
- Attend a minimum of 2 monthly meetings
- Attend a caving event with a Grotto member
- Review the Great Saltpetre Preserve Management Plan
Membership approval will be reviewed by the executive committee upon completion of the above requirements and submittal of the COG Application and Rockcastle Karst Conservancy Waiver to membership@centralohiogrotto.com.
